Hamilton | Kirikiriroa Festival of Weird of Weird is here to guide, support, while providing a platform for unconventional arts and arts practitioners.

We provide emerging artists the freedom to be experimental with one-of-a-kind events.

We give creatives a safe space to showcase their skills, help connect others, with audiences, showcase their work in unconventional spaces and foster independent creative ideas.

The Festival of Weird supports and celebrates diversity and inclusion. Our guiding policy is don’t be a***hole. It is really that simple.

WHAT WE DO:

We help promote your event, arrange permits and source outdoor locations for performances and/or installations.

We help with indoor event locations such as local DIY spaces or local venue contacts.
With larger scale venues such as The Meteor we strongly urge you contact them in advance to arrange a booking. Please note hire fee for this venue must be covered by your event door takings and/or external funding grants.

Offer guidance and support to make your creative vision a reality. 

Funding or performance fees towards free to the public outdoor works. Please contact us for more details. This fund is subject to approval by the Festival of Weird. You must provide a clear outline of your project or event to The Festival of Weird. Please note that we cannot fund large scale costly projects or productions.
Festival of Weird is in keeping with the DIY ethos. 

We offer use of a P.A system, gear and mobile P.A to help with music performances or performance requirements. This is at no charge.  

We work with local businesses to actively promote Festival of Weird, ensuring patrons have access to our Festival of Weird event scheduling. 

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

To organise, promote any production and project you submit. If you are an emerging artist who is undertaking their first big project or an established artist | performer doing everything on their own, do not fret! We got you and will offer guidance and support in this area. However, it is you who is the driver’s seat, becoming an all-powerful arts master, levelling up arts practitioner skills and becoming an almighty arts force!
